I’ve never met a group of people happier to go to work. The folks at Cleveland Vocational Industries, Inc. love what they do and it shows. The mission at CVII is:
“Provide opportunities and training for people with barriers to employment”
And they do a great job. CVII employees people that can’t work in a traditional work environment. Training Associates at CVII may have physical disabilities or need help with social or academic skills that make it hard to get a job. CVII trains their Associates to increase their skills and give them real world, work experience for their resume and prepare them for their next career steps.
CVII has a production floor that rotates different assembly projects through depending on the contracts they are working on, a car washing service, and a restaurant. The day I was there making images, the production floor was working on labeling cans of green beans for a company in California. Unlabeled cans are brought in, the CVII employees attach the labels by hand, pack the shipping cartons, and palatalize the finished goods for shipping.
During the assembly process, I watched the Training Associates receive feedback on their work, coaching on their performance, and positive reinforcement for the quality of their work. And the whole time, there are smiles every where you look.
This company is doing great work and making our community a better place at the same time. If you want to support CVII in their mission, you can learn more about their mission and how you can help on their web page.
Here’s a few of the pictures I made during the morning I got to spend with them.
